General Hand

Job description: Sorting boxes from pallets to conveyor, ensuring boxes stay on the conveyor belt and pick up any fallen boxes, stacking of boxes into trucks for dispatch.

Hazards: Unfamiliarity of site, slip trip and falls, cuts and abrasions, manual handling, interaction with mobile plant/vehicles, lack of incident/hazard reporting, site emergencies.

Controls: Site induction, buddied and trained, regular supervision, PPE as relevant to the role, traffic management/exclusion zones, correct manual lifting techniques and manual handling aids, regular housekeeping and cleaning facilities, incident/hazard report procedure, emergency evacuation plan, first aid facilities, fire extinguishers tested.
